How
do I sign up for NetTeller?
Simply
stop by the bank, or
complete
an online authorization form and mail it to: Farmers
Trust and Savings Bank, PO Box 7980, Spencer, IA 51301-7980. Once you
complete and return this form, we will give you a NetTeller ID
number and a password.
Is
there a fee for NetTeller Online Banking?
No, NetTeller Online Banking is available free of
charge to all Farmers Bank customers.
Is
Internet Banking safe?
Yes! Farmers Bank uses state-of-the-art firewalls and
security to protect your accounts and identity. We
protect your information by:
- Using
Secured Socket Layer (SSL) data encryption.
-
Requiring you to use a browser with 128-bit
encryption. You can test your browser encryption by
clicking on "Test Your Browser" on the login screen.
-
Never displaying your social security number or
account numbers over the Internet. Instead, we allow
you to customize your account names to differentiate
accounts.
-
Automatically disconnecting your NetTeller session
after 10 minutes of inactivity.
-
Requiring a unique NetTeller ID and password to be
entered before you have access to any account
information.
-
Utilizing a PIN Security System. To keep unauthorized
individuals from accessing your account by guessing
your PIN, we have instituted a PIN lockout system. If your PIN is entered incorrectly three consecutive times, the user is “locked out” of the system and must call the bank to be unlocked.
- Monitoring for uncharacteristic or unusual online banking behavior. If such activity is detected, you will have to answer challenge questions to verify your identity. You are prompted to select these questions and provide the answers to these questions once your online banking profile has been established.
- Verifying your watermark image. By seeing your personal watermark image, you can be sure that you are at the Farmers Bank online banking site, and not that of an impostor.
What
is encryption?
Encryption technology ensures that your confidential
account information cannot be accessed by another party.
Encryption is a way to rewrite something in a code,
which can be decoded later with the right
"key." When you request information about your
accounts, the information is sent across the web in an
encrypted format. When the information reaches you, it
is decoded so that you and no one else can read it. When you see a small lock icon in your browser, it indicates your data has been encrypted for transmission.
Why
do I need 128-bit encryption?
Because we are dedicated to a safe and secure Internet
banking experience, we require that you use the highest
security standards available. Many personal computers
are currently running browsers with 40-bit encryption,
and these must be updated at no charge. Simply click on
the TEST YOUR BROWSER button next to the NetTeller login to
check and update your browser if needed.
What
can I do to protect my Internet security?
While NetTeller works to protect your banking privacy,
you will also play an important role in protecting your
accounts. There are a number of steps you can take to
ensure that your NetTeller account information is
protected including:
- Don't
reveal your NetTeller ID or PIN to anyone else. They
are designed to protect your banking information,
but it will only work if you keep them to yourself.
- Change
your PIN frequently.
- Don't
walk away from your computer if you are in the
middle of a NetTeller session.
- Once
you have finished your NetTeller session, sign off
before visiting other sites, by clicking on the
"Exit" button.
- If
you notice suspicious or unusual activity on your
NetTeller accounts, call us at 262-3340 or
800-249-3340. After business hours, leave a message
at extension 100.
- Do
not change your pseudo names for your NetTeller
accounts to your account numbers.
My
NetTeller and PIN are already filled in. Is this
secure?
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later in a Windows platform, your NetTeller ID and PIN may automatically fill in when you enter NetTeller. This is
a feature of this browser version that works much like
later versions of Microsoft Word where the application
automatically completes words that you have typed before
and use frequently. This is not a feature Farmers Bank
controls through NetTeller. While this is a nice feature when used with some sites, we strongly recommend that you disable this feature when accessing several sites that contain sensitive or confidential data.
Can
I choose my own NetTeller ID and Password?
Initially you will automatically be assigned a NetTeller
ID and your password will be the last four digits of
your social security number. The first time you log on
to NetTeller you will be asked to choose a different
password for security reasons. You may choose any
alphanumeric password 4 to 8 characters in length. You
will also have the option of setting up a Personal ID,
such as your name, to use in place of your NetTeller ID.
Please note that your actual NetTeller ID does not
change - when you log on, the system will accept either
the original 12-digit NetTeller ID or the Personal ID
you assign. You may change your Personal ID and PIN as
often as you would like.
How
do I change my Personal ID?
After you log on to NetTeller, select ‘Options’ on the NetTeller menu bar. Type in the personal ID of your choice then click on 'Submit'.
How
do I change my PIN?
After you log on to NetTeller, select ‘Options’ on the NetTeller menu bar. You will be required to type in your current PIN and enter your new PIN twice for verification purposes. To save this change, click on ‘Submit.’
My
husband and I have some joint accounts and some separate
accounts. Is there a way we could see all of our
accounts together?
Yes. If there are additional accounts, such as a child's
or spouse's, you would like to access through NetTeller
Online Banking, you may list them on the authorization
form by either account number or by social security
number (all accounts under the social security number
would be included). You will need to have the signature
of all authorized account holders.
What
should I do if I forget my PIN?
If you forget your PIN, simply call us at 262-3340 or
800-249-3340, and we can reset your PIN to the last four
digits of your social security number. After business
hours, leave a message at extension 100.
What
should I do if I am locked out of my accounts?
If you are locked out of your accounts, simply call
us at 262-3340 or 800-249-3340 and ask to speak with one
of our NetTeller customer service representatives. After
business hours, leave a message at extension 100.
How
late in the day can I make a transfer between my Farmers
Bank accounts?
You can transfer funds 24 hours a day; however, if you
would like the transfer to post on the same day, it must
be made before 3:00 pm Monday-Friday. All transfers made
after 3:00pm, on weekends, or on holidays will post the
next business day.
I
signed up for NetTeller Online Banking, but I am not
able to view my past statements.
Only statements produced after you signed up for
NetTeller are available online.
How
far back can I view my statements?
You can view your previous 3 statements as well as your
current statement.
When
is NetTeller unavailable?
NetTeller will be unavailable for transfers for
approximately 15 minutes every business day between 4:30
and 5:00 pm while the system updates balances.
Occasionally it will also be down during routine
maintenance sessions. You will be notified of these
dates and times when you log on to NetTeller. If
you are unable to login to NetTeller during one of these
times simply try again later.
Can
I pay bills using NetTeller?
Yes, and no. Yes, you can transfer funds from your
checking accounts to loan accounts to make your monthly
payments to the bank. No, you cannot pay outside parties
like utilities or merchants using NetTeller. If you are
interested in online bill payment try Power Pay,
Farmers Bank's online bill payment service.
What
is real-time account access?
Real-time account access means that you see what the
bank sees. In other words, you have access to the most
current and accurate information pertaining to your account(s).
Since
my account numbers don't appear on NetTeller, how can I
differentiate between my accounts?
NetTeller allows you to assign labels to each of your
accounts so you can label them whatever is most
convenient for you (i.e., Christmas Savings, Auto Loan,
Home Loan, etc.).
To assign pseudo names to your accounts, click on ‘Options’ on the NetTeller menu bar. Then, click on ‘Account.’ Your accounts will be listed as they currently appear on your NetTeller Account listing. Simply enter the account names as you would like them to appear, and then click ‘Submit.’
What
is the difference between current and available balance?
Your current balance is the total amount currently in
your account. Available balance is your current balance
plus any available overdraft protection funds.
Why
did the pseudo account names I set up disappear?
If you set up pseudo account names then requested some
changes to your account listing (such as adding a
child's or spouse's account), those pseudo names will
be erased when the changes are made.
